Who Are We?
Carl Sutton - Director (Financial Management)
Carl is responsible for ensuring all financial aspects of projects are completed. His experience in both contracting and PQS organisations enables SSC to assist clients with projects from design development stages through to completion.
Carl graduated in 1997 with a BSc (Honours) Degree in Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University, England. Carl is also a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
The first five years of Carl’s career was spent working as a PQS in London managing Quantity Surveying aspects on retail fit-outs up to $200m in value for blue chip companies including Littlewoods, Debenhams and Arcadia Group. His Career has gone on to provide experience in private practice, self-build developers and main contracting organisations.
In 2004 Carl moved to New Zealand where the main body of his career has been in the role as senior quantity surveyor for Cordite Construction and Cadre Construction overseeing construction of commercial and residential projects up to $15m.
James Simons – Director (Project Management)
James oversees the project management aspects of all assignments, with a primary focus on the daily management of site operations. He is frequently on-site, providing direction and taking a hands-on approach to ensure that projects are executed to the highest standard while maintaining buildability and budget. This practical involvement, coupled with his extensive experience, plays a crucial role in delivering a quality outcome at SSC.
James has been immersed in the construction industry since 2003. After graduating from college James jumped into construction completing a four-year apprenticeship in carpentry with a local builder, he then transitioned into project management working for Cadre construction.
Throughout his career, James has successfully managed and delivered a diverse range of projects, from high-end residential property developments to complex commercial buildings and healthcare facilities. His broad expertise is the result of years of involvement in various construction methods and materials. James is a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in carpentry.
